Nature Parks of Croatia

Croatia is one of the ecologically best preserved parts of Europe. It is a land where the hues of the sunny and warm Mediterranean happily blend with the tranquillity and freshness of mountains and the gentle sway of the golden plains of Pannonia. Apart from national parks, Croatia also boasts several nature parks, areas of exquisite beauty protected because of their unique tradition, endemic species, natural phenomena and special atmosphere.

Currently there are eleven nature parks in Croatia (green on the photo below): Biokovo, Kopački rit, the archipelago of Lastovo, Lonjsko polje, mountains Medvednica, Papuk, Velebit and Učka, Telašćica, Lake Vransko, and Žumberak.
