Customs regulations
Customs regulations of the Republic of Croatia are harmonized with the standards of the EU Members States. Foreign currency can be freely brought in and out of the country, domestic currency up to 2 000 kuna.
Professional and technical equipment of a high value should be reported at the border. Accompanied dogs and cats must have an International Certificate issued by an authorized veterinarian evidencing that at least 15 days, but not more than six months, passed since the vaccination against rabies.
Tax refund to foreign citizens for purchased goods exceeding 500 kuna, providing that the form entitled "Porezni cek" (Tax Cheque) is stamped by customs officers upon leaving the country. More info: Customs Administration of the Republic of Croatia (Tel: 01 6102 333 or www.carina.hr ).


Medical service
Foreign tourists do not pay for medical services if the Health Care Convention was signed between Croatia and the country they come from. Expenses of health services provided to persons coming from the countries with which the Health Care Convention was not signed are charged directly to users according to the price list. There are hospitals and clinics in all the major towns, and health centers, as well as pharmacies, in all the smaller places.
For patients whose lives are in danger, there is emergency transport by air (helicopter) or sea (speedboat). There is network of veterinary clinics and centers in Croatia. More info: www.veterinarstvo.hr

Registering your stay
Owners of accommodation in areas with tourist activities are required to register the stay of tourists with the local tourist community of the respective village or city. The tourist community is then required to issue a written residence permit for each registered quest. Tourists pay a fee for each day of their stay. Children up to 12 years of age are not required to pay a fee to stay, and children between 12 and 18 years of age pay 50 % of the fee.

Nautical tourism
The owner or driver of boat over three meters in length and with a motor over 4 kw must, immediately after entering Croatian territorial waters, register their arrival and stay with the next appropriate port authority, in so far as they intend on traveling along the coastline and to the islands. Water vehicles arriving by way of land can be registered with any port authority. The boat driver is required to register all people on board.
