Konavle and Dubrovnik County
Two of Croatia's most southerly tourist sub-regions lie in unspoiled valleys surrounded by inland
mountains and the high cliffs of Konavle, along with the Dubrovnik county beaches.
Varied and placid landscapes have preserved the unity between natural splendors and the
cultured way of life in villages down the ages.
|
The autochthonous stone architecture, monuments and the sacral ambience, along with a rich ethno
tradition, which is most visible in the stunning forms of the folk costumes worn by the women of
this region, are truly memorable.
Use your vacation in Konavle and Dubrovnik County to enjoy the summer events in Cavtat,
including the local harmony singing groups, fishermen's nights, folklore groups and concerts.
Tourists towns are: Cavtat, Kupari, Srebreno, Mlini, Plat, Soline and Molunat.

Peljesac
Peljesac offers the romantic traveler the Adriatic landscapes of his or her dreams: a coastline
covered with sandy beaches, olive groves, century-old cypresses and cliff-tops thick with sage.
From its highest summit, St. Ilija, the view encompasses the whole of the Island of Korcula and
its archipelago, as well as the Islands of Hvar, Mljet, and Lastovo. Two picturesque towns,
Ston and Mali Ston, are situated on the stretch between the mainland and the peninsular massif.
|
Other than Dubrovnik, the most important and well-fortified parts of the Dubrovnik Republic were
located here. The imposing Middle Age walls protected the salt works and the valuable property
of the Republic on Peljesac. Malostonski Bay, an underwater reserve, on oyster farm, a veritable
Noah's ark with a wealth of quality fish, has carved its way between the peninsula and the mainland.
On the slopes Of Dingac and Postup the finest quality red wines in the Mediterranean are produced,
and which take their names from the slopes on which the grapes are grown. Tourist's towns are:
Ston, Prapratno, Dubrava, Brijesta, Trpanj, Orebic, Kuciste and Trstenik.

Neretva region comprised swampland expanses that were home to an abundance of fish and wading birds.
Today, however, agriculture has taken over and is growing strongly, especially the cultivation
of citrus fruits.

|
